Every minute "Malicious URL Blocked" warning

Hi, could someone please help me with this problem?

Every few minutes or so a “malicious URL blocked” warning message pops up. They pop up regardless of which web browser I use (Chrome, Mozilla, Explorer). They also show different object names but a few that consistently pop up are (hxxp://yawszaw89.com/z/ or hxxp://oleolex98.com/z/)

I followed the instructions in “Logs to assist in cleaning malware” and have attached the logs to this post (adwcleaner, MBAM, OTL, aswMBR).

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi you will need to reset chrome manually http://support.google.com/chrome/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=95426

Let me know if you still get the alerts on completion

The google chrome uninstaller wasn’t working so I manually deleted the files and reinstalled it. I hope that achieves the same effect. Unfortunately that didn’t fix my problem.

Just fyi, I predominantly use IE as my web browser. I don’t know if that makes a difference or not.

New OTL log attached.

Intriguing so I will need to look deeper

Download and Install Combofix

Download ComboFix from one of the following locations:
Link 1
Link 2

VERY IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  • IMPORTANT - Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here

[*]Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
[*]Accept the disclaimer and allow to update if it asks

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v706/ried7/NSIS_extraction.png

[*]When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
[*]Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Notes:

  1. Do not mouse-click Combofix’s window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
  2. Do not “re-run” Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.
  3. If after the reboot you get errors about programmes being marked for deletion then reboot, that will cure it.

Please make sure you include the combo fix log in your next reply as well as describe how your computer is running now

How long does this program take? Its running right now but my computer almost appears frozen. No status windows are open, and I can’t open any new programs (I tried to open task manager to see if the program was still running).

Has it started going through the stages 1 to 50 ?

If not then reboot the computer to safe mode and try again please

Finished Combofix but now Avast won’t restart so i dont know if the problem is fixed?

Any suggestions?

Combofix log attached.

Could you reboot whilst I look at the log

Just wanted to leave you an update. After many failed attempts at rebooting my computer in various settings (normal, safeboot, safeboot w/network), I did a clean reinstall of Avast which seems to have solved the problem of it not working. However, the annoying warning messages still pop up. (T_T)

Thanks again for you help on this matter.

Do you have other computers using your router ? If so are they recieving the alerts ?

I would like to take a different look at the MBR

I have tried to run RogueKiller three times now, however each time after I hit “scan” my computer goes to a blue screen with the message that “a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer”. It goes on to say “Plug and Play detected and error most likely caused by a faulty driver.” There is also technical notes at the bottom that say “***STOP: 0x000000CA (0x00000005, 0x8A576030, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)”

Could you run roguekiller from safe mode please, first rename it to iexplorer

To answer your previous question, we have 3 computers that use Avast but only this one is having problems.

RogueKiller logs attached.

I think this may have fixed the problem! (^_^)
Mozilla browser has been open for 2 minutes and no annoying warning message! So far, so good.

Is there anything else I need to do?

TDSSKiller and OTL log attached.

Could you attach the TDSSKiller log at C:\TDSSKiller date time please

Sorry about that (I’m not very computer savvy). I think these were what you were looking for. I saw two files that had that file name so I’ve attached them both.

Re-run TDSSKiller with the same parameters
When you get to this element select delete :

\Device\Harddisk0\DR0 ( TDSS File System )

Avast will alert as it is being moved.
