Excel 2007 does not recognize Avast 4.8 Pro as an installed anti-virus program

Hi,

It seems Excel 2007 does not recognize Avast 4.8 Pro as a valid installed Anti-virus program.
When opening a password protected workbook Excel 2007 will not allow the VBA code to run as it requires a valid installed anti-virus program to scan the file. This happens if the workbook has been password protected via the option Prepare and Encrypt document in Excel 2007.

Any idea why this happens?

avast! does not use MS Antivirus API, it intercepts the disk access instead.
So, I’m afraid there’s not much you can do about it (except for the “workaround” described on that Microsoft page).

You’ll notice that Avast does not notice Excell either
so you’re even
