Exclude Registry Keys?

Hi,
I haven’t been lazy and have searched the GUI & this form for “Exclude Registry keys” but I don’t find an answer.
So, we have Avast 4.8 - is there a method of excluding registry keys?

Is there a way to exclude a registry key from being scanned?
We have an application that is suffering from performance and the vendors believe there are a selection of registry keys that need to be excluded from AV scanning. It was easy enough to exclude the files, but the ability to do so with registry keys is not clear.

There is no scanning of registry keys.
(What should they be scanned for anyway?)
