Excluding Folders(Directories)

I have installed all my games into directory \GAMES. i.e. \GAMES\game1, \GAMES\game2

If I exclude \GAMES*.* will the online scanner exclude all files launched or accessed in those folders.

Hi KiwiTT,

You would want to specify the full path - eg C:\GAMES*

Do this in the Standard Shield advanced tab to prevent on-access scanning. If you also want to exclude the files from on-demand scanning add the same exclusion(s) in the Program Settings Exclusions list.

M

Or *\GAMES* should also do it.

In using this type of folder exclusion especially with multiple sub folders, you are taking a risk and it would be better to identify specific files within the folders/sub folders You would have to ensure that no malware was able to get into the Games folder otherwise it could reap havoc.

Are there any files that generate greater activity, such as log files *.log, etc.

I think there is. I will look at this in more detail. I will turn on message detail and see which files are being heavily scanned while I play the game, like log files (as you suggest), then just exclude these.
