Exclusion in Avast to be able to see youtube videos

I have seen threads like this before, but I haven’t seen what are the exact exclusions I have to set in Avast to be able to see youtube videos.

My problem is that when I want to see You tube videos the Orange ball of Avast starts spining and spining and the video takes long to load in order to see it.

It happens to me with 6.0.1289 and 6.0.1352

What are the exact exclusions I have to set in Avast and where?

Advise please!

Absolutly no problems watching YouTube videos here.

No exclusions have been entered either.

I do not use Comodo Firewall & D+ nor Firefox 8.0 though.

What exclusion would depend in part on what shield is causing the hang…Script Shield is what I would check first.

Hi,

Yes you are right. The Script Shield is scanning all the on-line videos, because the most of infections from web are malicious scripts.

You can add the exclusions in the script shield.

But it is not recommended to add exclusions in the script shield, it will exclude that link or webite from scanning.

To add exclusions, it can be done in this way for all youtube videos : http://www.youtube.com/* (by adding * symbol.

Thanks

A different approach would be NOT to exclude youtube, and instead you could pause the video for a moment (or two). Let the browser’s cache to keep downloading the video a little bit, while Avast keeps scanning whatever it wants / needs, and then play the video. At least the “frame-by-frame” effect is reduced, if not avoided at all, and you keep your protection.
