exclusions

This may have been covered somewhere, but I haven’t been able to find it.

In exclusions, whether in the settings or under the file resident protection, when I want to put a file in there, I am only able to drill down to a folder. If I try to type in the filename in the box, I get an error.

So, I don’t want to exclude folders, I want files. How do I do this?

I am using the Free avast! 5 that I downloaded today.

Thank you.

Having selected the folder for exclusion, you can having accepted that entry edit the path by selecting the entry. That allows you to add the file name to the end of the path, by replacing the * at the end with the file name.

Does that make sense ?

This is correct. First drill down to the folder where the file is, then hit enter so path to the folder is excluded. After doing this, double click on the folder path you just created, and arrow all the way over to the last forward slash. Then you may enter the file name in the folder path and extension and hit enter without getting an error.
