exe file in Dropbox cache

On my clean new Windows 7 PC, avast! free antivirus bothers me since I installed Dropbox.

Every few seconds there comes a popup which states “malware blocked: file system protection has blocked a threat” (in German, “Malware blockiert: avast! Dateisystem-Schutz hat eine Bedrohung blockiert”)

object: c:\Users\jens\Dropbox.dropbox.cache~8ec4a9d3.tmp|>$PLUGINSDIR_fzpwd_.exe
infection: Win32:Malware-gen
action: moved to container
process: c:\Users\jens\AppData\Roaming\Dropbox\bin\Dropbox.exe

Is this false alarm? What does that file do? Or is it in deed a threat?

I also asked that in the Dropbox forum, but I thought, perhaps someone here had the same problem.

Thanks in advance.

Jens

I see it is located in droppbox cache?..have you Tried to empty that cache?

You Can also Upload the problem file to virustotal.com and see if other detect it

Thanks for the fast answer! I found it!

After installation Dropbox tried to download all my files to my local directory. It was so difficult for me because the file’s name was not “fzpwd.exe”. Perhaps it was originally fzpwd.exe and I renamed it a long time ago?
I compared my local to my online dropbox folder and there was one file missing. I deleted it online and the problem was solved.

BTW that was a password retriever for filezilla… don’t know whether it really was a threat…
