Exe MAxiVistaA scanned 5000 times in 2 days?

Using my script that totals the scans, I just found that an executable MaxiVistaA.exe was scanned 5000 times in the last few days. It hasn’t been updated in months. Looking through my FileSystemShield.txt I find tons of entries where it was scanned constantly…

I think I’m going back to 6.

This was supposed to be taken care of in a virus definition update. Is your engine and virus definitions up to date?

See here for most recent update: http://www.avast.com/virus-update-history

It is, I have it on automatic updates and just double-checked.

Of course the bulk of the EXE hits were on 2/26, so I’m sure there has been an update since then. So maybe its been fixed and I should watch for more?

Thanks for the quick reply,
dave

Yes it was taken care of, ensure you have the latest virus definition updates.

Once you have the latest update, stop the file system shield (or reboot) restart the file system shield. This resets the scanned count, so you should get an indication as to how it is behaving now. If for some reason it is still getting multiple scans, then you can add this C:\Program Files\MaxiVista Standard Server\MaxiVistaA.exe file to the file system shield, expert settings, exclusions (for Read Write and Execute (RWX).

No need to take the drastic action of going back to avast6.

I was getting in excess of 50,000 repetitive scans spread over more than 30 files. Did I go back, no I stuck with it giving as much information as I could and it was resolved.

I went back to version 6 after a few days.

As has been said this issue was resolved some time ago in a VPS update, so if this was the reason you went back to avast6, then that reason is no longer an issue.

The reason was that avast 7 took about 75% of CPU if no applications ran. Don’t know if it was the same cause. Just referred to the going back statement.

In that case probably not related as I didn’t see any spike in my CPU and I was getting in excess of 50,000 repetitive scans.

Yes, I got your helpful message on the other thread before I went back. I’m now at 15K scans in about a week which is much more reasonable.
Thanks!

You’re welcome.
