When trying to update my Avast! version 4.6 Professional it tells me my license key expired Thursday January 1, 1970. It worked yesterday.
I have herd that new type of viruses can go for the virusprogram themselves to disarm them. What is wrong?

Is your system time/date set correctly?
Yes. It tells my current date in the error message and its correct. The problem is that it states that the license is valid until 1970, meaning it expired 36 years ago :o
Please post the last 100 (or so) lines from the file \setup\setup.log
Also send a screenshot of the avast About box (with the license key section expanded).
Thanks

Check About avast dialog, under registration key you’ll see expiration dates.
Have you entered your license key?
I am having the same problem, except mine expired on Dec.31, 1969 and My computer time and date is correct.
New key is entered and shows as entered and expires on may 1 2007 at 1.00 pm
It won’t let me update, I have been using Avast for a long time and have not had any problems until now?
Can you post the first part of the registration key here? (the part before the dash - it is displayed e.g. in the About box).
