For the third time, and the second time in 6 weeks, I got a message on my screen which says that my Avast license is expired or invalid.
I purchased a three year license about 14 months ago and my current “invalid/expired” license was sent to me in early January '09.
I’m really getting sick of this. Why can’t ALWIL provide licenses that last? grrrr! >:(
Hallo,
this is really strange. All the licensing stuff is based on seconds-since-epoch stamping, and thus, i can’t imagine mechanism, responsible for similar flaw. maybe your machine, time-from-time, has got incorrect system time?
have a look into the license - there are human readable time-stamps, thus just verify, that it’s really 3y license - if not, contact our support.

Sorry, error.
My system time is currently spot on; and I’ve never noticed an incorrect time readout in all the months that I’ve owned my current Mac.
I guess that it’s possible that my Mac has some glitch in it that causes my Avast license to become corrupted. But what that glitch might be is a mystery. I haven’t got a clue.
Well, I finally was able to get my license file to work I’ve got
the app Graphic Converter. My Avast license file, which I kept in my Documents folder got formatted
into a Graphic Converter medium and, for some reason, couldn’t be accepted or acknowledged by Avast.
I was able to get the license file to open in another medium. For some
reason, VLC Media player, which automatically became the Avast file and other files medium (by default, I guess) once I got Graphic Converter out of the way, could acknowledge my license file and Avast has now accepted it. Why VLC Media Player? I haven’t a clue. But
all’s well now. Hopefully, my Avast license will give me no more trouble
from now on.

Glad to know :).
Btw. the license file is very sensitive to any modification/re-formatting, thus, it’s always necessary to keep it in the original form (pure txt-file).

Are you using a Mac…??
Besides this being a MAC forum (NOT PC), this thread is dead for about 8(!) years.
