I have been using Advast home edition for some time now, it has always worked great. I have 2 laptops that I have advast installed on. One has Windows XP Home and the other has Windows Vista Home. Recently I updated to the latest version of Advast with a new license. Now the XP laptop shows the message ( internet explorer has encountered an error and must shut down) nearly every time that I try to open Explorer. The Windows Vista laptop frequently and randomly freezes up while using Explorer and navagating from website to website. Anybody else have this happen to them? Thanks

Same here and have family members with same problem. Only solution seems to be turning off Web shield and turning Standard Shield to high. Just hope Avast finds and fixes the problem soon.
When I was using Avast, I had the same problem but not as frequently as you have. Sometimes at the startup of the browser, sometimes after the startup it froze. I had this problem also with Opera browser. Some time later I installed G DATA, and the problem continued. 2 days ago I ran the Advanced SystemCare Pro 3 for the first time on my system, and I have not had any problems since that time. Maybe you should use some system care utilities, too. However, I am not sure whether or not this is the real solution of this situation.
