I know this is an often discussed topic, and the answer always seems to involve another “device” which I do not have, but I just have one question.
I Have Avast Internet Security free installed.
I’ve got a new PC (not yet set up) and I am busy doing a lot of backing up. I keep reading that the *.csv export that Avast can do is not importable back into a newly installed Avast on the new PC. BUT, what if I export the csv file from Avast and then (on the new PC) import the csv into CHROME (I believe that FF can’t import csv passwords) and then in AIS go to “Passwords/settings/import export data” and import PWs from Chrome?
Whaddya think? I’d wait and just try it after the new PC is up and running, but I want to cover all the bases before I have to risk it. But in theory, it should work, right?
And PS, guys, these are the messiest and most unreadable Captchas I’ve aver seen on the internet.
@bob3160
You’re quite right! I just checked and I see I purchased it last fall. That’s an oops! Sorry.
And I’ve just checked and importing into chrome is not as easy as I thought. I think the info I read concerned an older version. Arrgh! It looks like I’ll have to feed the PWs in from the from AIS exported CVS file. That’s a few hundred. C’mon Avast, this shouldn’t be necessary, people move to new PCs every day!
Google lets you export your passwords it stores in csv format.
ASB allows import of html file.
You would need to convert csv to html. There are programs available that do just that.
Just do a search for “csv to html converter”. Good luck.
