I have been testing my p.c. to get it into safemode and did the msconfig and that worked to get into safemode. But for testing purposes say if I have to restart a computer, f8 opens the boot menu. Is there some way of getting safemode to work if you have to hard reboot a pc, say if everything locks up, from a virus or other problems? Any advice would be appreciated.

I found the answer, when I pressed F8 it would go to Boot device menu, I hit escape and pressed F8 (not tapped it) then the
Advanced Boot option menu would appear, and I could select safemode from the choice. I hope that my research and the video I found can help if anyone needs it.

You may need to hold down the FN (Function) Key before pressing the F8 key.
