I have to update a client witch is not connected to the internet.
I downloaded the update from “https://www.avast.com/en-us/download-update” (Avast VPS update for versions 12+) and try to install it.
Now I am getting the following error message: “InitGroups: definition XML for part ‘vps’ was not loaded yet!”
The problem exists since the update from 19.5. to 19.6. every day I downloaded the update and got these error message.
Also it seems that the update file from “https://www.avast.com/en-us/download-update” didn’t changed since a few days. Every day the File has the exact same size an file version number. Shouldn’t be there a new update file at least every 48h?
The program also displays last update on 24.06.19.
Does someone has the same issues, or does someone has a solution for this problem?
Noticed there is a general push to get rid of offline update capabilities in things like this across the sector, eg. MalwareBytes lost its offline update ability when V3 came out, even though users have requested its re-enstatement again and again. I suppose it will happen here as well eventually.
I have exactly the same problem with Avast Free 19.5.2378 (19.5.4444.503) on Windows 10 Pro 64 bit v1903.
The last successfully installed update is 190703-4, newer offline updaters are always failing with the same InitGroups: definition XML for part ‘vps’ was not loaded yet! error message.
What should I do to keep my computer protected for malwares ?
You could try an Avast Repair, but I would suggest is that you get the latest avast program version 19.6.2383.
Considering your failure error in virus database updates, it may be best to download the full off-line program version, see the download locations here - https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=228012.0.
