Failed installation

Hi,
Recently I switched from NOD32 to Avast on my notebook with XP without problems, but unfortunately in an other notebook with Windows 7 32 bit the installation fail.
Thanks.

Please uninstall you previous resident antivirus and run the respective removal utility (see my signature for link). Pre-installed software usually leaves remnants, so even if you disabled it, you still need to uninstall it and then read the respective information of the respective removal utility and follow the instructions.

Please report back.

Did you follow the correct removal procedures for NOD32 on windows 7 ? instructions here http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN2289

Any other installed or uninstalled AV security software should also be uninstalled then run the correct removal tool that ady4um has supplied in his signiture.

Thank you for quick reply, I have good and bad news…
After run the Eset removal utility in temporary mode the Avast installation was fine but after reboot the avast service don’t start.
For info are present also Malwarebytes free and Iobit Advanced System Care 5.

What do you mean by temporary mode? This should have been done in regular mode (not Safe Mode).

After running the removal tool for Eset, you should also REBOOT your machine.

Avast installation was fine but after reboot the avast service don't start.

have you tried avast repair and reboot ?

For a repair of avast. Windows, Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button from the pop-up window, scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.

Iobit Advanced System Care 5.
some info about IObit company...

If you still have problems after following Pondus’s suggestions, I would suggest that you uninstall IObit’s ASC, since this has been a knows issue and sometimes a conflict with Avast in the past, but uninstall it with the vendor’s tool, then REBOOT your machine.

Also, check to see if your firewall is preventing Avast services from working.

See if Avast runs properly now. If not, try the Avast Repair again. If not, uninstall Avast using the Avast uninstall tool and install fresh, then REBOOT.

It is fine to keep MBAM (Malwarebytes) on your machine. However I would keep ASC off your machine at least until we get Avast working properly or keep it off for good; you really do not need it with Avast and MBAM and put CCleaner Slim version http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds. Let us know how this works for you.

The ESET removal tool must be used in Safe mode, (not temporary, sorry for my english);

Yes, done without success;

I know but AWC 5 and Smart Defrag are still good;

I uninstall AWC 5.0 and reboot, then the cleaner tool but no success;
Uninstall Avast and reboot, then in safe mode the Avast aswclear.exe and reboot.
Reinstalled again but still don’t finish the installation.
At this point I renounce, because this situation is crazy for me, I never had software problems like this.

EDIT: SOLVED!
I installed Avast in safe mode and now works fine. :smiley:

Glad it’s all working for you now :slight_smile:
