netgear router (4 years old - latest firmware uptodate) log shows failed admin login attempts from local IP (around 1 per day).
iz only 1 pc connected to router over a wireless network.
avast free quick scan show no virus/malware. avast network scan show no problems on all devices.
routers admin login password iz NOT default one and wireless iz protected with WPA2/PSK long random password.
MBAM scan shows no malware.
questionz:
what otha scan wud u recomend (avast and mbam done)
what could be cause of failed admin login

I assume this is your router log?

I found the same thing in my router a couple of weeks ago. I used wireshark to collect the packets from my computer to the router when my computer tried to log into my router. I found that Avast was trying to brute force my router login credentials. In light of this, I would assume that it is related to Avast’s new network security features, specifically weak or default router passwords.
I’m guessing that a successful “attack” from Avast would lead to this message:
