A fake antispyware program is on the loose. It uses desktop hijacking, false-positive reports, and exaggerated claims, along with inadequate scan reporting. Want to know the name??
PC Mag artical that you may find of some use judge for yourselves
There is a whole string of these rogue programs, all stemming from one and the same source. And some that host them would be ashamed having to admit it. They launch a pop-up that you are infected, while that may not be the case at all. When you do a scan they find obscure legit system files that are all false positives. When you want to clean these malware files out, you have to download their paid version. DO NOT.
One thing aware users must know not all messages and pop-ups you encounter are legit and “coming from your own computer”. Do not fall into this trap. Siteadvisor add-on and DrWeb hyperlink scanner plug-in can help you to avoid clicking on these nasty hyperlinks.
What gets me is how many people fall for those “your computer may be infected” ads you see on webpages. How can an ad tell this? Of course, it can not but many people fall for that every day that goes by. Then, they click on the ad and the real infections start! :
Masses of people are vulnerable because they trust messages, because they think that they are program or system messages.
If it is striking enough, they fall for it. Only we know better.
It looks like that there are lots of people that were better off without a computer or are not educated enough to use one. See message

I wouldn’t be to worried about any antispyware company going out of business. No system from Microsoft has been very secure and every time they say this next one will be the most secure one a few years later they say our last system had many security problems and you should buy this one to protect yourself. I understand that XP is more secure then 2000 but still it has many security flaws. But Microsoft’s mistake has done one good thing. That is bring us all to this forum and meet new people and make new friends.
