http://giytdyrio.info/pcdiag/1/alert1.php didn’t get blocked by Avast, but it’s a fake blue screen of death page that I couldn’t get out of by any method other than restarting the computer.
Scary stuff. Wanted me to call a number or dire things would happen to my data, etc.
I looked around for somewhere to report this, but couldn’t find anything. So I’m posting the link here and hope if it’s the wrong place that someone with the power to move it to a better one will do so.
I didn’t think the ad I clicked on looked particularly dangerous… (an old story, right?)

No need to reboot, simply close the browser window.

It clearly states…

The browser window would not close. It was dark blue with a small white window above it. I’m well aware it was an ad or something worse. I saw no disclaimer and wasn’t about to scroll through the white window or do anything on that site whatsoever–except try to escape.
I went back to the site. The disclaimer is in black tiny type at the bottom of the page. It’s impossible to read. The white thing says a disclaimer is on the website, but I couldn’t close the white pop-up. I used Task Manager to close Chrome. It’s certainly not as simple as closing a browser window. But am I expecting too much of Avast? Should it be preventing things like this? I don’t want to be annoying or anything, or ask for more than the product is meant to deliver.
It was already checked! But thank you. However, there was something odd about my account, so I signed in again. Maybe that had something to do with it. I appreciate the help, though. I should learn to not panic! Heh.
Ah, I see. Thank you! Question, though: How did you know it was a new setting that wasn’t there before? Do you remember the settings or did you have a screenshot saved of the old page?
