I keep having a problem with Avast. It keeps blocking an EXE file which helps the computer communicate with the cash machines.
Placint it in exceptions does not seem to work and also the company who manufactured the file could not find a way to sort things out.
Is there anything to be done?

I just did this. Also the manufacturers of the program I am talking about had a conversation with the Avast customer care but with no results.

It could very well be that if you disable the behavior shield, things will work.
Give it a try I would say.
