False Positive C:\Program Files\Norton Utilities\nprotect.exe

Since update 080728-0, avast! is a little overzealous. ???

Later Edit: OS is 98SE.

Still detects as FP with 080729-1

If it is indeed a false positive, see http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=34950.msg293451#msg293451, how to report it to avast! and what to do to exclude them until the problem is corrected.

C:\Program Files\Norton Utilities\nprotect.exe is still flagged by 080730-0 and won’t stay in the excluded list of Standard Shield. ???

Have sent file ‘NPROTECT.EXE’ as ‘nprotect.zip’ to virus@avast.com.

What do you meant it won’t stay in the standard shield exclusion list ?
If you enter it , OK your way out it should stick and be there when you open it again. I don’t know if this might be a user permissions (limited user in XP/Vista etc.) or possible OS issue (win9x on occasion had problems with settings not sticking) ?

What exactly are you entering, try c:*\nprotect.exe ?

I copied the full path “C:\Program Files\Norton Utilities\nprotect.exe” from explorer but when I restarted today the avast! warning came up again and when I checked, the exclusion entry was gone. It is 98SE so that could be a factor.

The false positive should be fixed now.

Thank-you igor. 080731-0 seems to have done the trick.
