I am the developer of Batch File Compiler Professional Edition. My program is used by thousands of users. It compiles .Bat scripts to .Exe files. Your virus scanner is detecting the compiled batch files as ‘Win32:Trojan-gen{Other}’
Every compiled batch file is detected as a virus by your scanner. This may have resulted from someone writing a malicious batch file (maybe one that deletes system files?) then compiling it with my software. You cannot simply flag every one of the compiled batch files as a virus. Your virus scanner DOES NOT detect the full version executables as a virus so I know this problem can be fixed very easily.
Thank you for your fast action in solving this problem.
If you follow the correct procedure and email Avast with a (password protected) zip file of your program I’m sure they will fix it and any exe files made with it.
For those of you who want freeware versions of bat to exe and/or bat to com programs try: http://www.hollmen.dk/articles/batch.htm The first two progams shewn there worked well on my
W98SE.
I have just today received a virus notice from my home version 4.7.1043. It tells me that my Time Exposure Proselect program that I have used since Dec. 06 is infected with that same virus as mentioned above. It is an EXE program. It is in my virus chest now. I tried to email it but it says that the file is too big. It will not allow me to make a zipped file from my program files Time Select folder. I suspect it has the same problem as the first person in that it is a false alarm.
Did this just happen? The file was fine up until the latest vdf update?
If so, you can probably restore the file and exclude it from both the main and real time scanners. I would, as a precaution, run it through an online scanner like jotti…
Thanks! I will try and see if this works. I know that I have updated avast when it tells me to, but this is the first version that I originally installed.
OK, stupid question time. Where do I find my program on my computer to scan with the online scanner? My folders are empty except for the folder names. The program appears to be in my virus chest, or so the folder shows up there at least. I feel like a total DOH!
create a new folder C:\suspect
copy file from chest to C:\suspect
then go online to Jotti or Virus total and use their search function to find your folder C:\suspect
upload the files one at a time if more than one
post back the results
if you use Virus total they will automatically go to Avast
I do not know about jotti- however there spybot will get them
The chest will not allow me to copy the file to another file. That option is not there. I wonder if I should just uninstall that program and then install it again.
Here is what one fo the virus scanners came up with (Virus Total). Now what do I make of this or what do I do next?

G-data uses Avast’s database so what you have here is ONE -gen or general (non specific)(not a positive id) hit
looks like a false positive
Virus total will send or has sent a copy to Avast
expect this to be fixed very shortly
I would think that a scan in a couple of days will not find this as malware
Thanks for helping make the system work
just for drill a scan with malware bytes anti malware every so often will not hurt
Do you use IE?
if so I recommend Spywareblaster by Javacool
are you running a firewall that is not the Windows xp firewall?
lots of thing you can do to be safer
I don’t know exactly how it has been taken care of, but my ProSelect is now working without the virus warning. Yay!!! I inadvertantly accessed it by opening an album file that uses ProSelect to open. It opened the album without incident so I moved the ProSelect file from the suspect file I had put it in and put it back on my desktop. All is well.
