false positive? Help please!

Avast!Warning popped up saying Suspicious File Found!

the file name was C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Source Engine\OSE.EXE

is this file important or is it okay to delete? The recommended action says ignore but i would rather have it gone if it is malware. This popped up a couple of minutes after i uninstalled an expired trial version of microsoft office prof. 2007.

Is this a false positive or should i delete it? Is this file important or not?

thank you for the help!

Send the file to virus total ( if its still there )
http://www.virustotal.com/
Then post the results

after i uninstalled ms office 2007 trial, it prompted me to reboot my computer. After i did that, i tried to search for the file but it was gone. should i be worried?

Probably not. The file is gone, it was flagged as “suspicious” rather than a definite threat, I have such a file in the place indicated also. I have no idea why it would have been flagged.

Seeing as the file was removed when you uninstalled ms office 2007 trial, it would be a false positive.

Information on … OSE.EXE … is easy enough to find with a google search.
