Today avast showed as infected file at C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\hposvc08.exe. This is part of the all in one driver AFAIK. Can this be rectified in the next definitions? Real time scanner stopped it from running.
Attached is screenshot of avast log and virus total scan results. Virus total already had the same file submitted and there were 0 detections, i.e. it was completely clean.
What is the malware name given in this detection ?
I would say that under normal circumstances this file would be dormant, what I see about it is that it is something to do with fixing printers. So what were you doing when avast alerted ?
You could also check the offending/suspect file at: VirusTotal - Multi engine on-line virus scanner and report the findings here, post the URL in the Address bar of the VT results page. You can’t do this with the file securely in the chest, you need to extract it to a temporary (not original) location first, see below.
Create a folder called Suspect in the C: drive. Now exclude that folder in the File System Shield, Expert Settings, Exclusions, Add, type (or copy and paste) C:\Suspect*
That will stop the File System Shield scanning any file you put in that folder.
Hello,
thank you for notice. It’s false positive. It will be fixed in next VPS update.
Sorry for any inconvenience.
