False positive: imscan.dll?

G’day folks,
Avast! reports “c:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ActiveScan\imscan.dll” is infected by “Win32:Kuang2” virus.

Imscan.dll is a component of Pandasoftware’s online virus scanner, current as of yesterday. AVG and Trend micro’s online scanner each report the file (now relocated to the virus chest) as clean.

Is the file in the chest still in its original state/condition?

Regards
Ken

Hello Ken! Wellcome to forums ;D
If I’m not wrong, Panda’s software did not encrypt well its viruses signatures files, so some false positives were related. Stay cool! Maybe some expert from avast! team could tell you something later. ;D

If you want, you could send me an IM for more info…

This probably happened because Panda did not encrypt well its virus signatures. Of course, I’m not sure but seem to be a false positive.

Let’s wait a little for the avast team…

Wellcome to forums ;D
If you need more help or info, feel free to send me an IM

It is a false positive. A classic one, I’d say

Thank you guys. I feel such a goose - should have used the search tool before posting.

Sorry to have wasted you time.

Next time I’ll find a real problem!

not a waste of time at all! You need to be sure there is not a real virus on your system. If you are EVER not sure about an infected file please ask us!

Yeah!

Sorry if I mixed you with another Ken of these forums. In your first post you write: Regards. Ken and not kenr.
