False positive list

Hello,
I am evaluating Avast 8.0.1497.0 (Virus definition 130918-5.

And I was wondering if I might explain an issue I’m having and then ask for advice.

Avast is identifying a few objects as problematic, when they are loaded into memory via a starting application.

We know absoutly for sure, that the objects Avast is identifying, are not infected in any way.
We’ve done our homework and were sure of these objects.

I was wondering if there way a way to tell the installed Avast poduct, not to look at or consider certain objects.
As in, we might enter their names into a spreadsheet that Avast is already set up to read.
Or, perhaps we might include these objects in a certain folder that Avast will read and consider before generating error dialogs.

I’m looking for a way to tell Avast about known (to us) objects that should be ignored when Avast, “does its thing”.

Thanks for any response.

Have you tested the files at www.virustotal.com ?

You can upload files and report to avast here: http://www.avast.com/contact-form.php

you can use mail

send to virus@avast.com in a password protected zip file
mail subject: False Positive / undetected sample (select subject according to your case)
zip password: infected

or you can send files from avast chest
how to use the chest. http://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB21

Thanks so much for the link.

I HAVE tested all of the the .DLL’s that Avast flags, and all them them are virus free.
Interesting that Avast, on that site, thinks they are virus free.

THE issue is that Avast, if running will shut down one of our mission critical applications.
We can’t wait around for Avast to modify their Virus definition. (which they are under no obligation to do by the way.)

So, if we can update an Avast exception list, to include the names of our three .dlls, then were “go to go”.

Make sense ?

It may help if you gave us any info about what alert avast give on those files. … like a screenshot

You have two similar topics on the go, this one and another one http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=135356.0, which I feel is the more relevant one, towards your goal of excluding them. Otherwise this is just duplication for those trying to help.

But you should most certainly send the samples to avast for analysis, as this helps your users in the long term were you don’t have to tell them what to do.

In the other topic we are trying to get the information to determine which exclusion list it would/should be added to.
