False positive on a domain acquired in 2026, cleared elsewhere, still blocked here

Hello,

I am the owner of onatea[.]com. Avast blocks the domain and all its subdomains as dangerous.

I submitted a false positive report through your form two days ago and have had no response yet, so I am posting here in case someone can help move it along.

The block also affects a booking component we provide to our customers, so end users see an Avast warning on websites unrelated to our domain.

I acquired the domain second-hand in March 2026. It was used maliciously under a previous owner before 2020; those paths have returned HTTP 404 for years.

The case has been reviewed and cleared elsewhere:

  • Cisco Talos completed a manual review and raised the domain’s web reputation to Neutral.
  • McAfee reclassified it from Malicious Sites to Travel, with a Minimal Risk web reputation.
  • The Phishing.Database project verified domain ownership and whitelisted it.
  • Kaspersky, SOCRadar, alphaMountain, Gridinsoft and ESET each removed their detections. Bitdefender, FortiGuard and Symantec corrected their categorisation.
  • The domain shows 0/90 detections on VirusTotal, and Google Safe Browsing reports no issues.

The domain hosts a B2B SaaS booking platform operated by a company registered in France. It impersonates no third-party brand and collects no credentials other than those of accounts created on our own platform.

Happy to provide any additional information if needed.

Thanks,

I read you have already checked your website is confirmed clean of malware using:

and reported a False Positive form to Avast using: Choose Your Sample Submission Type | Avast

You should give avast at least 2 working days (i.e. excluding weekends) to process the FP.
You will not get a reply from Avast, so you will need to check for no further alert again after that.
On occasions, an avast employee may reply to a thread here on the forum and acknowledge the FP has been cleaned.

Note. I am not an Avast Team member, just another user.

First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member.

The VT Results for your domain are 0/90

I will try and draw some Avast Team input into this matter.

Hi @enzol ,

Thank you for raising this!

The reported domain was checked, and based on the findings, the detection was removed. The website is now marked as clean in the Avast database. This change may take up to 1 hour to take full effect. Please accept my apology for the inconvenience caused.

If the situation persists after 1 hour, please update the Avast virus database and try again.

Thank you, @DavidR, for highlighting this topic.

Thank you for the quick review, much appreciated. And thanks @DavidR for flagging the topic.

One question: the domain still shows as “Unsafe” on the Avast Link Checker. Is that tool updated separately from the main database, and should I just give it more time?

Thanks again,

The Avast Link Checker is an online web-site check and not directly a part of the Avast Antivirus program/s.

That said I would have thought this would/should be related to the Avast antivirus Virus Definitions. Though there may be a delay updates or differences in how it determines if it is suspect.

Quick update: the domain now shows as safe on my side, including the Link Checker. Thanks again for the quick resolution, the topic can be closed.

I don’t believe topics are closed.
