I’ve got the latest version of Avast (5.1) internet security. It just finished a scan and I have a ton of what I believe are FP’s for SAS. I plan on asking SAS too but was wondering your thoughts as well. I’ve attached a screen-shot. Running Win-7 64 bit using SAS pro 4.48.8, they have always played nice before.
They are no threat. This is a side effect of you electing to scan memory. Don’t bother submitting them as FP’s because that is not what they are. They are SAS malware signatures that of course it needs to do its job, just like Avast! does.
I thought it was something innocuous like that, thanks for the quick reply. I’ll just ignore it then.

Earlier today I ran a full scan with SAS Free, I didn’t get anything like you did.
It isn’t good to have more than one real-time security running.

Sure, no problem.
This happens when you play with the scan settings…
as already mentioned by gargamel360, I guess it was a custom scan and you selected “scan memory”
use the default scan quick/full with default settings…
It isn’t about just running an SAS scan or even having SAS Pro (which I have and I have never had this), it is about doing an avast custom scan and electing to do a Memory scan (this particular memory scan id thorough) and is going to detect signatures loaded into memory.
Just to verify. It’s true, it was a custom scan and I did indeed have the memory scan selected.
Yes that can throw up other unexpected things, for me the Quick and Full pre-defined scans are more than good enough, whilst they also scan memory it obviously isn’t in the same depth.
Even these on-demand scans for the most part are going to be scanning dormant or inert files. This is the whole purpose of resident on-access antivirus applications to scan what are in effect in use files, those not in use files could lie dormant if it weren’t for the on-demand scans. So for me that depreciates the need for full in-depth on-demand scans.
That said, I do a weekly Quick scan and a Monthly Full System scan, scheduled for times that the computer is going to be on but I’m unlikely to be busy on the computer.
You are wrong rdmaloyjr, you can run an av with realtime anti spyware/ malware, it’s no different than running your av in realtime with windows defender.
You just cant have two av’s on a system, running or not.
Its just that rdmaloyjr does not understand MBAM.
