False positive

LeakTest 1.2 from Gibson Research Corporation is being detected as a false positve as far I can see…
http://www.grc.com/lt/leaktest.htm

This may be down to its activity/behaviour as leaktest.exe seeks to circumvent your firewall, the same was true for two others, breakout.exe and zabypass.exe that was designed to circumvent zone alarm. So these would/could fall into the tool category not knowing what it would do.

So, I could agree with a riskware but not a trojan-gen :stuck_out_tongue:

Strange, I have an old copy of Leaktest.exe created 12th Nov 2005, I have just scanned and no detection ?
Unless it has been fixed in the latest VPS update 0645-3.

I would agree though if it were to be detected it should come under the [Tool] category, mind you these specific tool we have mentioned have a specific purpose which shouldn’t be able to be used by a third party application unless the leaktest.exe, etc. were modified.
