False Positive

Avast is stopping me from playing BF3 online.

Specifically stopping PunkBuster, calling it Malware. I checked to see if defs are up to date and it is. Why is there no ignore option anymore? It is reasons like this that stop me from paying money for a “better” version of avast.

P.S: And before you jump to conclusions, no it is not an illegal copy and yes it has been working for several months now without problems.

known issue…wait for next VPS update

I’ve already deleted avast and installed another antivirus. You should follow my steps.

::slight_smile: well, that is not the solution…if it can be fixed dont throw it onto garbage…why are u encouraging other users to change their avast AV…this is avast! forum…this type of advice is not expected here on avast! forum

This is the third time I’ve had to “modify” Avast so that it works with my online games… I’m quite honestly getting tired of doing this but I had paid for a whole 'nother year… I’m beginning to think I made a mistake in buying it at all. Punkbuster is NOT a virus/malware and it NEVER should have been tagged as one.

I know that’s not the solution. But an antivirus that see any file as malware isn’t too.
I’m using avast for like 4 or 5 years, and I ever had problems with it. This was just the last thing I could handle. I’m sorry if I’m encouraging users to change their antivirus.

Sorry!but not all AV’s are 100%…everbody makes mistakes…

Best thing to do…if u changed your AV…dont recommend the same to others here on avast forum

Avast makes a lot of mistakes with its definitions tho (more than any other AV I have used in the past)

but Avast makes a mistake and its Ok the OP makes a mistake in his post and he gets a telling off…

I witnessed the same tonight with BF3 and so did others in the mumble channel I use all of them ditched Avast
for the same reason.

Tried to exclude the Punkbuster files but it is still messing with me.
This is not the first time either…

FIX IT!!!

No one brings the Rage like gamers when you get between them and their games. ;D

Many tests would argue that point against you. Avast! has a historically very low FP rate. And I do not know were you see the OP getting “told off”, he got a completely polite response.

Anyway, you guys who are having problems excluding it in the meantime, are you sure you are putting those exclusions in the right place? Which of Avast! shields are detecting it? Or is the path different with each detection?

edit: this guy over here said he got them set to work>> http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=99976.msg798123#msg798123

I was using the free avast version. So you didn’t lost a client! hahahaha 8)
