False Positive?

This just popped up after rebooting my computer. I don’t even have MSE installed. Ran Malewarebytes and it didn’t find anything.

Follow these instructions and attach the requested logs in your next reply: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

DJBone

Quick Scan results.

I haven’t had any threat detected popups from Avast so I’m not going to worry about it.

i don't even have MSE installed
Attach OTL diagnostic log from the guide given above

McAfee Site Advisor blocked me from going there.

I’ve run 2 scans and neither showed any threats.

going where…
disable the McAfee and attach the OTL log if you want help…
we are not psychic so cant see nada with no log

The OTL. If I had some kind of infection wouldn’t it have shown up on the scans…Malwarebytes and Avast?

no security program have 100% detection…
and Malwarebytes has a limited detection range, there is a bunch of malware it does not look for
if you had done it when DJBone posted you would be finish hours ago. ::slight_smile:

After 3 scans showed no threats I believe it’s a false positive.

whatever… ::slight_smile:

That was probably a popup for a rogue AV on that site, it may have managed to download something

If you will look at the first image again it shows Microsoft Security Essentials detected this. There isn’t a trace of MSE on my computer.

Weatherbug is always wanting to run a PC Scan.

And what is to stop a malware writer using that name … Copyright, nah they don’t care about that

check the first picture here.

Gosh! I wasn’t about to let it clean my computer.

well Gosh…as we have tried to tell you for hours… you may already have it

How could I if I didn’t let it scan my computer?

this is like talking to a brick wall…
lots if info if you ask google the same question

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rogue_security_software

Some rogue security software, however, propagate onto users' computers as drive-by downloads which exploit security vulnerabilities in web browsers, pdf viewers, or email clients to install themselves without any manual interaction.[3][5]

I’m running a full scan on Malwarebytes right now.

No malware.
