False Positive

Hi,

I work for a software company and ever since your last update our customers that run your AV as getting messages saying our program is a threat.“Avast File System Shield has blocked a threat.”

Yes, they can add it to the exclusion list but then some of the programs we install and are dependent on as blocked too. (e.g. Crystal Reports).

How do we get our program added to your white-list? Also, how do we get this fixed asap? Since you posted your recent update this has been flooding us.

I have submitted this to the contact us page but haven’t heard anything back. One of my Techs also called and got now where with you. We have also sent an email in with this info.

What is the file name that is being detected ?
If you can post a link to the file - break the link so it isn’t active changing http to hXXp.

You could upload it to: VirusTotal - Multi engine on-line virus scanner and report the findings here, post the URL in the Address bar of the VT results page.

If the detections are only limited to avast - you can report a false positive at the on-line contact form, http://www.avast.com/contact-form.php?loadStyles for: Report false virus alert in file; Report false virus alert on website.

  • If you are reporting an FP, then you get another input field open, click Browse button and navigate to the file or enter the web URL for the site you wish to submit for review, etc. A link to this topic also wouldn’t hurt.
