False report: Infected with HTML:Script-inf [Susp]

I am getting blocked when I try to access a page on my own WordPress site that only visible to a few logged-in users.

Avast reports: Infected with HTML:Script-inf [Susp] 74754e2de5af/2023-10-05T05:57:51.867Z

It is quite likely that this page has been reported maliciously - can Avast be abused in this way?

I can see how to fix my own problem by adding an exception, but this isn’t a good solution for my other visitors.

If I report a suspected false positive and offer a temporary access, will the Avast team log-in and check?

Only one way to find out

I found a good compromise.

I opened the page “view source”, and uploaded the output as an HTML file on the False Positive Form: https://www.avast.com/false-positive-file-form.php#pc

Within 24 hours I got a reply:

Thank you for reporting this false positive. We have now cleared its reputation in our database based on the findings and removed the detection.

So all is now well.
