Hi, I’m software developer and Avast is today detecting my software fakturace3.exe as infected by Win32:Evo-gen [Susp]. It’s 100% false alarm. What can I do for quick solution. The better will be if Avast team can purchase new update of virus database which can solve this.
Can anyone help me?
You can report a possible FP here: http://www.avast.com/contact-form.php
Thanks, I posted it just now. How quick they would react?
It depends, but usually rather quick.
Had same problem with a few files today one of which was MPEG4modifier.exe which I’ve had since 1995. That also came up as Win32:Evo-gen [Susp] so could be a problem with latest defs. Reported mine already.
TomasHalasz, i’m in the same boat as you with exactly the same alert.
I did send the one of my plugins (Plugin_PlaylistBuilder.dll ) that ONLY avast 8 blocked/deleted, to avast team but no news from them since then.
If avast team doesn’t care enough about these things i will start to recommend to my users to change their antivirus because i had enough trying to fix something that is not broken and keep telling to my users that is a false positive.
An online scan was made just to prove that my code is clean, even if beside Avast users no one had problems: https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/6937314bd6a1441e9699cb763878407cea5724894f164d7208e7d4b78230177d/analysis/1374986504/
Hi - I think I may have a partial solution. I use Lotus SmartSuite r9.8 in W7HPx64, and Avast! 7.0.1466, and today Avast! reported C:\Lotus\organize\easyclip.exe as Win32:Evo-gen [Susp]. However, when I “restored” it and scanned it from Windows Explorer, Avast! didn’t see any infection. The short story is that the WExplorer scan was set to not look for PUPs… I wonder if Win32:Evo-gen [Susp] is actually a PUP? Anyway, I’ve told Avast! to not look for PUPs.
I have also set heuristics to “off”, and to scan the “whole file” in as many settings as I can find. Hopefully this will stop Avast! from picking on Lotus!
Gordon.
