I’m a Flightsim addon developer, and use RapidQ for installer, setups and my own programs. These are created using RapidQ, (yes its old but easy to use.)
Today all Rapid Q applications will not work, as AVAST is claiming there a virus in there
Win32:Trojan-gen{Other}
VPS 080626-0,26/06/2008
There are no viruses, these files have not changed in years. Can someone please look into fixing the definition files.
This has happen in the past by AVG (DOS RapidQ apps) last year (fixed) and NOD32 3 years. Not sure why it keep reoccurring, but it will affect thousands of people and my reputation is now being damaged and users think I’m sending out a virus in the addons.
Please pack the file into a password-protected ZIP or RAR and send it to virus@avast.com, together with the password (with “False positive” in subject).
Thanks.
Create a folder called Suspect in the C:\ drive, e.g. C:\Suspect. Now exclude that folder in the Standard Shield, Customize, Advanced, Add, type (or copy and paste) C:\Suspect* That will stop the standard shield scanning any file you put in that folder. You should now be able to export any file in the chest to this folder and upload it to VirusTotal without avast alerting.
If it is indeed a false positive, add it to the exclusions lists: Standard Shield, Customize, Advanced, Add and Program Settings, Exclusions (right click the avast ’ a ’ icon)
Restore it to its original location, periodically check it (scan it in the chest), there should still be a copy in the chest even though you restored it to the original location. When it is no longer detected then you can also remove it from the Standard Shield and Program Settings, exclusions.
Problem is now fixed by the AVAST update made at 6PM GMT 26/05 080626-1 , I had 4 customers email me about the same problem, so I would like thank you for a speedy fix here.
