When I run a boot time scan my fan is running very loud the whole time. Is this normal? I do normal scans about once a month and have always come up clean. Could it be because my hard drive is kind of full (86.5 gb free of 1.35 tb)?
Why are you running a boot scan? it’s really only supposed to be used if something is detected and avast instructs you to run a boot scan.
I’m, how you say? Paranoid. Seriously though, I thought you were supposed to run a boot time scan every now and then, virus or not.
No it’s not necessary, boot scans are for infections that can’t be deleted whilst in the normal operating system.
I’ll just speculate… but the boot-time scanner is running before Windows fully starts, so maybe the power management is not completely loaded and some things (temperature measurement, fan control, powering down some parts) don’t work as they normally do later.
The boot-time scanner is an expert feature, and was designed to be used when there’s something bad going on on the system.https://blog.avast.com/2010/02/04/v5-bts-auto-actions/
