fatal error: CURRRENT AVAST! INSTALLER IS NOT TRUSTED...

Hi all !

I’m new in the forum. My name is Lorenzo

I own a new notebook with Windows 8.1

It came with McAfee LiveSafe installed

I’d like to install Avast! antivirus free 2014

I’ve unistalled McAfee, using Windows unistaller tool, and after that, I’run McAfee unistalling tool (MCPR) downloaded from their site

Downloaded Avast Antivirus Free, and when I start the installation, after a few seconds, the following error message pops up and installation stops:

“Fatal error: current avast! installer is not trusted by avast! Self Defense Module. Try to launch the installer again”

After many trials, downloading Avast again, I decided to install Avira Antivirus to avoid staying unprotected.

Anyway, I would like to go with Avast, as I had a very good experience with it in other computers

I would appreciate any help to fix this issue

Hi all !

thanks to the help of a member of spanish fórum, I could fix the issue.

it was due to Malwarebites installed in my notebook that was blocking Avast! installation

I have the same problem as Lorenzo but do not have Malwarebites installed. Any other cause for the problem?

HI Gonzlamr I was going to ask did you have a different antivirus software on your computer before you tried to install avast free on your computer. If you had a different antivirus on your computer how did you remove this antivirus from your computer did you use control pannel programs and features to remove the antivirus from your computer.

Since you don’t have the same problem, please start your own Topic.
Give us as much info as possible as to prior AV programs and other security programs you use.
Your Operating system etc.
