feature request for ADNM

i noticed in the forum and in the program itself that i nowhere can track updates as in what is the newest update and what
is the current version.

In order to update the ADNM console u need to go to the uninstall list from windows and start the uninstall but instead of uninstall u have to choose update…

i would like to see a button in the program that shows this update for the ADNM itself
I would also like to see a sync tracking option where i can see when the ADNM contacted the update server on internet and which files
it downloaded for the updates with success or not

For the program updates i would like to see a similar function except that i have to give my approval for the program update to certain structure like WSUS from MS does…

edit:
i just found: $$log$$_mirror $$status$$_mirror this shows something that seems like a logfile for what i mention above except in a log file shown in a browser i would like to see this in an extra tab in the admin console where it tells when there was the last time contact with the internet server, what the current version of the definitions/programs are and if the update went succesful the last time. Also maybe it would be nice to see when the next update is coming and a manual update fetch button so u can force the AMS to download the updates from the internet server.

next to that i would like some more freedom in the report function in what to report if possible, like another user here on the forum tries to get done, i am interrested in that as well

at the actual report function there is now an option to append the date to file names
instead i would like to see a directory created with the date and report taskname and put the reports in there

Currently i know from the paperwork and the order that i have a certain ammount of licenses
I cant find any of this information for this in the running ADNM

I would also be very happy if the avast scans the AD structure where the computer accounts are and copy that structure so i dont have to recreate that structure by hand, if i need to do something on all computers then i would use the dynamic selection for that

i would be happy with these functions

Hello wpn

“Currently i know from the paperwork and the order that i have a certain ammount of licenses

You can reach the information if you go to C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Management Tools\AmsTool.exe and press the License button.
Thank you for the suggestion we will consider their implementation.

While at it, I mentioned before that the report dating should have an option to go in the formay YYMMDD as it’s easier to sort.

Right now the report summary_virinfection_260309.pdf comes after summary_virinfection_260209.pdf even though there are 3 weeks inbetween (they are elsewhere). Either summary_virinfection_YYMMDD.pdf or YYMMDD_summary_virinfection.pdf would be more useful. [yes I can sort by the date column in Explorer]

For audit purposes, a comprehensive report [in table format maybe] for each system with last full scan, engine version, VPS version, etc. would be nice as well.

maybe another non-program feature request that i see a lot of people here in the forum asking for is more/detailed documentation

mainly i see deployment questions that could be covered by documentation
so maybe its a good idea to temperary hire someone to analyse the questions here in the forums and at the e-mails that come in and compare those questions with the documentation and write how-to’s or additional documentation

personally i would be interrested in deployment packages for specific servers, i.e. which providers to use for certain servers with server tasks and some elaboration about what the providers do ( i saw a very useful explanation about exchange providers in another thread which could be put in the documentation for example )

edit:
i think for me this is the most important feature request: customisable mirror directory location
i havent found a way yet to change the location where the mirror is created, right now it is in the directory where ADNM installs in
generally i want a program to be installed in the default programs directory of windows and any extra data that it needs to write away goes in a different directory (i believe that is now also the way it should be working in Win2k8 / vista / win7)

when i am in ADNM console and i pull out the menu for tasks to perform on a client that has no avast installed yet i can click on all the tasks possible…

when there is no client installed i only want to see that i am able to push an installation so the rest is greyed out but readable…
when there is a client installed i dont want to see installation tasks, only uninstallation

possible?

i didnt check deep into this but when my scheduled task for our weekly scan runs, it will take all the pc’s with a client… obviously some clients wont be used every day, sometimes even not for several days, the scan will time out on this.
Thats all OK but i rather see that the scan will only focus on the computers that are online at that moment since it can be fairly certain that those clients will contact the AMS within 30 minutes again

generally i want a program to be installed in the default programs directory of windows and any extra data that it needs to write away goes in a different directory

I’ll second that.

bug / request 1:

make the installation from netclient where i tell the system to reboot also really reboot:
right now when a client is locked by a user the installation is succesful but the machine doesnt reboot, locked or not when i tell to reboot after install, im the boss i want it to reboot.

request 2:

in the tasks list it would be very nice (for my lazy *ss) to have a little toolbar with a run/stop/delete button.
