"Feds mandate 'secure' Windows set-up"

This is an extension of the comments made by Simon Szykman, CIO at NIST, in the “Explaining a Vista ban” thread posted earlier. He mentions upcoming security requirements in that article. I assume this is what he’s referring to:

There is a hughe differece between the original Headlines of “banning the sale of Windows Vista”
and the statement made in this news release:
“No Vista application will be able to be sold to federal agencies if the application does not run on the secure version of Vista,”

Agreed. Simon Szykman said in that “Explaining a Vista ban” article, that he was a little miffed about the way the press reported the story. There is certainly in my mind, a big difference in the terms “moratorium” and “ban”.

Anyway, between the two articles, I think I understand what they’re doing now. Interesting to get an insight into how the government looks at operating systems, programs, and overall computer security.
