* Fixed a problem where users were unable to retrieve saved passwords or save new passwords (bug 454708)
* See the Firefox 3.0.2 release notes for previous changes.
Installed it without any problem on my new machine. Strange, I did not notice this previous bug about passwords in FF 3.0.2. Firefox 3.0.3 is as fast as Opera to me. Nothing to be ashamed of. :o
Apparently not for all open software, GoogleChrome still has holes like Switch cheese of which several haven’t been patched: http://blogs.zdnet.com/security/?p=1975
Well Polonus, what I was commenting on, was the speed at which fixes are available from the open source community. Certainly better, IMO, than the 30 day cycle from Microsoft.
Whereas Firefox is the “apple” in this thread, Google Chrome is definitely the “orange”…
Chrome is a fresh Beta release. As with all developmental software, lots of problems can, and will pop up, and users should exercise care when using those versions.
I think you’re being a little overcritical in comparing Google Chrome with Firefox. New Betas need some time to be shaken out. Chrome’s so new, there’s not even a formal Linux version available yet.
Or, did I possibly miss something from your comment?
Just installed FF 3.0.3 on my old XP Pro machine. Installation sluggish but succeeded! It fixed some minor errors the other installation made in the add-on panel!
It was not “only a Russian problem” as you say, also people that used specific characters in passwords were duped, like for example the é ë etc. It was a backing out of code that went drastically wrong later if you care to read the whole story how the bug was handled. Russians were troubled by this issue, it was not a problem they caused, mind you
