I have recently upgraded to Avast Internet Security. I had previously used Comodo firewall and uninstalled it before upgrade to Avast Internet security.
It seems that there are some components that have not been cleaned up.
I use Seamonkey and experience now that firewall does not recognize that program as legitimate ( Firefox works fine ) and have to permit manually Seamonkey each time I start my computer.
But , unfortunately , in the application rules panel I have already an entry ( in a group name mozilla.org ) with all this standard rules .
If I delete the entry ( I have configured firewall to ask for any new access ), avast asks me for permit block Seamonkey, allows me to use the program,
But after restart my computer, an verify that the rules are there, Avast blocks Seamonkey again until I delete the application rules and must manually allow again the program. Note that Seamonkey.exe is no segned by any trusted organization ( as Firefox does ).
Some additional information about the environment.
Platform : a dual core AMD processor with Windows XP 32bit. ( Very old, this is a computre I have on my second residence for the weekend, so I can try out all sugestions the next weekend )
I use two users: Administrator and a normal unprivileged one.
Before the upgrade tl Avast Pro I used Avast Free and Comodo Firewall ( in the beginning Comodo didn’t offer antivirus )
I decided recently to drop Comodo Firewall and Upgrade to Avast Pro, so I uninstalled Comodo Firewall using the standard procedure before intalling Avast pro .
Since then I have the same peroblem , Most programs do well ( As Google Earth ) , but I can’t configure Semonkey permanently to , even when Samonkey is present in the Application rules list. Note that I don’t have tried to use Semonkey as administrator.
I hope that this additional information be helpfull to identify a solution.
Note that I had previously installed Comodo Firewall ( Not the complete Internet suite ) , and avast free ( without fierwall ).
I have this problem since I (1) first uninstalled Comodo firewall using the standard windows procedures. end (2) second installed the Avast Por Internet security.
I guess there remains some piece of software from Comodo So before a clean install of Avast I should be able to clean up all rests of Comodo.
Do someone know this piece of utility that permits to clean all rests of Comodo software ?
