file being flagged that should not be

Hi, I am trying to install Business Objects on users computer. When trying to launch it, Avast flags the boresen.dll file and won’t allow it to launch. Adding it to the Exception list apparently only helps when running a scan and not the On Access Scanner. In the long term please add this to your next VBS update. In the short term please let me know how to allow this to run now. The results of the VirusTotal scan is below:

If it is indeed a false positive and it seems so, see http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=34950.msg293451#msg293451, how to report it to avast! and what to do to exclude them until the problem is corrected.

This is the exclusion for the on-access scanner:
Standard Shield, Customize, Advanced, Add

Thanks for the quick reply. How do I navigate to the Standard Shield option for the on-access scanner? I can only use the Simple User Interface. When I try to launch the Enhanced User Interface Avast closes instantly and without error.

Right click the ‘a’ blue icon.
Choose ‘On-Access Protection…’ option (the top most).
Click ‘Details’ button to expand.

Nothing happens when I right or left click the icon in the System Tray. I believe this is because it is controlled from the server and not a stand-alone installation such as Home version.

what version of avast is on your computer
server versions have their own forum
do you have admin privileges?
your server system will let you install software?

Hmmm… maybe. I’m not an expert on server/ADNM versions… Can’t you ask for your network administrator?

I am using Avast Version 4.7, build Dec2007 (4.7.820). I do have admin privileges. we’ve installed software on our computers before. This software was already installed, but it appears as after the virus database was updated it flagged the file as a virus.
