File in Use - File is already open in Avast Antivirus

I see no purpose, but someone suggests I open a new topic for an old issue which was supposedly solved two years ago, but isn’t.

I am attempting to move a file folder to a new place in my file structure. Windows says the I can’t, because a file there is in use by another program. Eventually, I create a duplicate file folder where I want it, and start moving the files a few at a time in order to figure out which one is the problem. I move all but one, and that last one, a .doc, will not move. The error message is “File in Use - The action can’t be completed because the file is open in Avast Antivirus - Close the file and try again.” Disabling Avast shields (while offline) and trying again does nothing. Same error. I finally copied the file to the new place, but it still refuses to let me delete the old file and folder, because it’s still in use. This is the same problem as was reported and was supposedly due to be fixed in June 2018 on the thread I originally posted on.

I don’t have any time to deal with programs which interfere with productivity in this way.

Can you please collect a Process Monitor log, covering the moment the problem is simulated, and upload the log under a unique name to ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming (and post the name here)?
Thanks.

Did you try to disable the Avast Self-Defense module?

Another possibility is to use Unlocker

I just tried creating a new sub-folder and using the Windows Drag and Drop function in Windows Explorer and dragged another folder into it and now issue.

I then dragged it out of that sub-folder into a different location, again no block by avast, the only thing I got was a bit of a pause as it was moved (a normal windows explorer function as it is moved). That said I was moving this sub-folder around within an SSD drive.
