Maybe someone more computer savvy than I can help me with this question. Often when I boot up the computer Avast downloads updated information. Since this happens often will my computer be eventually over loaded with antivirus files? Does the program delete old maybe outdated virus files as it downloads new information? Thanks
The whole point of an antivirus is to protect you, to do that it must maintain an upto date virus signature database and that is what is being updated.
The avast database updates are incremental and only measured in KBs and not MBs so no it won’t overload your system with anti-virus files.
Old viruses are just as effective as new ones if they aren’t stopped/detected.
This goes on with all AVs the maintenance of its signatures, the main difference is avast allows for auto updates but unlike others AVs avast uses incremental updates so you aren’t downloading large signature files.
Yes, housekeeping is done
