This is my first post in this forum. I just started to use this AV program this week and note that Avast has a special program for servers. If the file system on a machine is set at [network server] will this cause any problems with the AV program if you use the free home demo version? ???
Since there has been no response. I have not had any problems with this issue so far. I will watch for any. Scans for quick and standard without archives did not show any problem with the file system. :
I’ve read your post since from beginning, but I did not understand, sorry my lack of knowledge, what is [network server] file system. I just know FAT, FAT32, NTFS, EXT2, EXT3…
If on win98, goto>mycomputer>properties>performance tab>file system. Older systems like win95/98 before win xp, it has been suggested to run as [network server] file system in WSC of Auhuma.org by Jim Eshelman MSVP for “legacy” systems. 
Yes, typically this would be for NT.
This is suggested strictly for memory management purposes. It doesn’t turn your system into a Server and therefore
running avast! home is fine.
Exactly Bob. I have worked on all these OS and win98se is still my favorite, kinda like the wild wild west. They are making it less useful now though in order to save themselves… :-X
Favorite simply means users choice.
