I seem to be having a problem with file transfers on Instant Messenger programs with Avast! running. Both the recipient of the file and myself have broadband internet connections. When all providers are disabled prior to sending the file, it seems to transfer much faster. What could be causing this problem? Thanks in advance.
Avast scans files sent by instant messenger for malware. Transfer will therefore take longer with the instant messaging provider running as it will take some time to scan the file.
At least that would explain why it would take a little longer. If it’s happening much faster with the provider disabled, there may be something else going on…
