there is something strange happens durnig avast scan on my pc, I have two hard disk, one is C, the other one is D, where I have only a partition to restore XP. Every time avast running, on the final report says FILES CAB DAMAGED ON DISC D, all the files, in other words avast find all the restore files damaged, how is possible if this partition was never used? I hope somebody can help me to find out why that happens, thanks a lot.
Don’t worry about it, there is little you could do even if the .cab (archive file) is damaged. All avast is effectively reporting is it can’t scan that file, possibly because it might be damaged (not infected), but it could be that it is unable for other reasons to unpack it so it might be scanned.
What is disk D ?
I’m assuming a hidden recovery partition for your system.
Can you give some examples of the file name and full location ?
Files that can’t be scanned are just that, not an indication they are suspicious/infected, just unable to be scanned.
Also, the packaging of the file could have some error, or use a non-standard pattern…
