now this should take you to Firefox default Start page
go to Tools in the toolbar across top of screen
and from dropdown menu, choose Options, look under the General tab
and see what you have as yr Firefox home page
you may been visiting Files.com and unknowingly clicked the wrong thing
Actually I did the following to have Firefox 4 installed beside the stable Firefox
Create a folder for that version of Firefox, like maybe C:\Program Files\Mozilla\Firefox 3.6b2\
Extract the Zip file into the folder that you created,
Right-click the firefox.exe file and Send to > Desktop (create shortcut)
Create an empty folder where you want the new Profile for this version to be located, like maybe C:\Program Files\Mozilla\07-13-10\ to keep it near the Firefox program files. The name of that Profile would be 07-13-10.
Modify the Target line of the Desktop shortcut that you created like this:
~firefox.exe" -profile C:\Program Files\Mozilla\07-13-10 (there has to be a space between .exe" and -profile)
Then click apply.
Double-click that Desktop shortcut to launch the new version you just installed and a new Profile will be created upon Startup.
Quite possible … once, back when I had Spyware Guard, it gave me a warning while I was browsing a web page that there was an attempt to change my home page (normally about:blank). I denied permission to make the change, and since I’d long been satisfied that the site in question does a good job of housekeeping and staying clean, I decided afterwards I’d probably inadvertently clicked on their make-this-your-home-page link (or, a remote possibility, accidentally hit the hot-key equivalent).
