I just installed Avast and ran a scan. In the virus chest, in addition to two infected files, I find, under System Files, Kernel32.dll, winsock.dll and wsock32.dll. Is this normal?

I have that too.
That’s normal. As long as those files are under ‘System Files’ - that is normal.
They are backup copies of important system files that avast copies into the System Files section of the chest.
The Infected Files section is the one that avast places files that it detects as infected.
The User Files is where you the user can place suspect files that you think are infected, but aren’t detected by avast, from here you can send them to avast for analysis.
