Ive read the Help file associated with the Chest. I didn’t see anything that says viruses are cleaned in the chest. Avast found viruses and I stored the files in the chest. Now the virus menu of the chest says -no virus-. Were the files cleaned in the chest? Can I restore the files. and use the files now? Avast also found viruses that will not add to the chest and I fear that if I delete these files my system will no longer work. What do I do in this case?
Hi sirduke, welcome to the forum
The file that are in the chest, that say -no virus- have been re-scanned and confirmed as clean. They can be restored to their original location.
Instructions on how to do this can be found here:
avast! Support article: Restoring a false positive file from the Virus Chest
It is worth noting that a copy will still remain in the chest. Check that the restore has worked, by finding the file in the location it should be, and then if wanted you can delete the file from the chest.
For the other files that you mention not being able to move to chest, can you provide us with the filenames and paths, as well as the detection name?
Check the source file using notepad C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\log\Warning.log and copy and paste the entry.
