Files (including avast program files) patched with Win32:Virut

Avast isn’t functioning properly, but in detects Win32:Virut and I can’t do anything but remove critical files. Please Help. The VRDB is useless, I hope they dont have it in version 5

The good news is that VRDB is not in V5 and the bad news is that Win32:Virut is almost impossible to remove without a hard disk FORMAT and operating system install.

I would like you to know that W32:Virut is a file infector hope you will understand try to browse my site so that you will gets and know all about “VIRUT” here: http://emantisoy.vze.com

One of the big problems with Virut/Vitro is that it is an aggressive file infector. And it’s polymorphic. (Keeps changing its name/properties to aid in avoiding detection.)
It can infect files with many different extensions.
To top it off, it’s buggy, and even if the infected files can be tracked down and the infection stopped (real tricky, as far as I know, and I believe impossible to do inside Windows) the infection leaves those files corrupted and unable to be repaired.
Very destructive.
I’d probably format and re-install the OS.
I don’t think that even your .jpg files are safe to restore/back up.

It depends on the variant but the latest variants infects (*.exe *.scr *.htm *.html *.xml *.zip *.rar *.doc *.jpg *.pdf) I believe.
